(DDM) – The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has advised prospective candidates to begin creating their profiles immediately ahead of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry registration.

DDM gathered that the board emphasised the importance of early preparation to avoid last-minute challenges that could disrupt timely registration.

JAMB highlighted that accurate National Identification Number (NIN) details must be verified before creating a profile, stressing that errors in personal data could complicate the registration process.

The board explained that registration for the 2026 UTME and Direct Entry can begin at any time, but candidates who delay risk facing system congestion and limited correction windows for personal details.

Correction windows after submission are strictly limited, and candidates are urged to take personal responsibility for ensuring all information provided is correct before finalising their profiles.

According to JAMB, application fees have remained unchanged for nine consecutive years, reflecting government directives to maintain accessibility for candidates despite economic pressures.

Officials noted that the board’s emphasis on early registration aligns with broader governmental “human face” policies aimed at reducing stress and logistical difficulties for students.

The board also cautioned that errors in NIN or personal data could result in delays or disqualification, underscoring the need for meticulous verification prior to submission.

JAMB advised candidates to gather all necessary information, including valid identification, academic credentials, and NIN verification, before initiating their profile creation process.

Experts say early profile creation not only reduces last-minute stress but also ensures that technical issues, such as server overloads or connectivity problems, do not affect timely completion of registration.

Candidates are reminded that the UTME and Direct Entry processes are highly competitive, and accurate data entry is critical for smooth processing of exam slips, results, and eventual admission.

The board encourages candidates to use official portals and follow published guidelines closely, warning against reliance on third-party agents who may provide inaccurate or fraudulent assistance.

In addition, JAMB continues to stress that its policies are designed to streamline registration, improve data integrity, and enhance the overall credibility of the UTME and Direct Entry processes.

Observers note that adherence to early registration advice will benefit students by allowing sufficient time to address discrepancies and secure exam participation without unnecessary stress.

Officials emphasised that candidates who delay or ignore verification processes do so at their own risk, as the board cannot guarantee corrections or adjustments beyond the designated windows.

The call for early action reflects JAMB’s commitment to facilitating a transparent, fair, and efficient registration process, ensuring that eligible candidates have equal opportunities to participate in the 2026 examinations.
