Jigawa shut down schools over insecurity

The Jigawa State Government on Wednesday ordered the immediate closure of public and private schools in the state due to insecurity.

The State’s Commissioner of Education, Dr. Lawan Yunusa confirmed the development to newsmen in Dutse.

Yunusa said the decision was based on intelligence report of possible security attacks on schools, especially on border states.

When asked about the fate of pupils and students sitting for examinations, Yunusa hinted that an arrangement will be made to re-conduct the exams since the exams were internal and not external.
