Job seeker collapses after wife gave birth to triplets

A man simply identified as Adamu Muhammed Tenimu reportedly collapsed in shock at the Federal University Teaching Hospital in Lokoja, Kogi State, after learning that his wife had given birth to a set of triplets.

The incident occurred on Friday, moments after the successful delivery.

Medical staff and bystanders rushed to help him and managed to revive Adamu shortly afterward.

The mother and her newborn daughters are said to be in good health and under observation at the hospital’s neonatal unit.

While speaking with newsmen after regaining consciousness, Tenimu, who is currently unemployed, expressed both gratitude and deep concern over his family’s financial state.

“I thank God for this miracle, but I am confused and sad. I didn’t know we were expecting triplets. Right now, we don’t even have the means and financial capacity to pay the hospital bills, let alone care for three babies at once,” he said.

He explained that due to limited finances, the pregnancy had not been frequently scanned, and they were only preparing to welcome one child.

“This blessing is huge, but so is the burden. I don’t even have money to buy diapers or baby food. I don’t know where to start,” he lamented.

Those familiar with the family’s situation are calling for public support to help ease the burden. A relative present at the hospital appealed for immediate assistance.

“The babies are healthy, but this family needs help. We are calling on the government, NGOs, religious groups, and well-meaning Nigerians to support them,” the family member said.

Friends and members of the community have begun mobilising to raise funds and gather essential items for the newborns.

“We urge the Kogi State Government and the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development to intervene. The father is a law-abiding, hardworking man, and this situation deserves attention,” said Mr. Nuhu Alhassan, a colleague.
