Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA) in Abuja, Nigeria

Operations at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, have been suspended temporarily following an incident involving an Allied Air flight on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

The aircraft reportedly suffered a tyre burst upon landing at the airport.

It veered off the runway and got stuck near its edge.

The incident prompted authorities to shut the airport, while efforts to tow the plane are underway.

An NAIA official, while confirming the development, said they are currently on-site addressing the incident.

He assured that work is ongoing to reopen the runway as soon as possible.

The closure has caused significant flight delays, leaving passengers stranded.

In the meantime, airport authorities are working hard to restore normalcy in operations.

The authorities reported that, fortunately, there were no injuries during the accident.

Meanwhile, emergency response teams were seen patrolling the premises to ensure safety.

More details of the incident will follow…
