JUST IN: ADC Website Crash After Atiku, Obi Alliance

In a dramatic twist following the surprise announcement of a powerful political coalition ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 elections, the official website of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) crashed on Friday afternoon under a surge of web traffic.
The crash occurred just two days after high-profile political figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Anambra Governor Peter Obi, ex-Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi, former Senate President David Mark, and former Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, announced a united front under the ADC to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
By Friday afternoon, visitors to the ADC’s website, www.adc.org.ng, were greeted with a glaring error message:
“Bandwidth Limit Exceeded The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to the site owner reaching his/her bandwidth limit. Please try again later.”
The error, known as a 509 Bandwidth Limit Exceeded, typically means the site experienced more visits and data usage than its hosting provider could handle.
It’s an uncommon but telling sign of mass interest in a political platform.
Observers say the website crash is symbolic of the growing momentum behind the newly unveiled opposition alliance.
Digital strategist Yetunde Salami told our correspondent that the sudden spike indicates genuine, widespread curiosity among Nigerians.
“Crashes like this are caused by traffic surges after major announcements, especially when sites are unprepared. It’s an organic sign of public attention,” she said.
Social media platforms have since exploded with reactions. Hashtags like #ADCAlliance and #NewCoalition2027 have begun trending on X (formerly Twitter), with many Nigerians speculating on the coalition’s potential to reshape Nigeria’s political future.
The ADC, once considered a fringe party, is now at the center of the biggest political reawakening since 2015.
Its recent embrace by some of the country’s most powerful former officials signals a serious shift in the 2027 electoral landscape.
Political analyst Danladi Mohammed described the coalition as a “broad but uneasy alliance of ambition,” warning that while the names are big, unity could be fleeting.
“The real test is not the traffic to the website it’s whether these politicians, often at odds with one another, can agree on a common vision,” he said.
The ADC has yet to release an official statement regarding the website issue or the coalition’s next moves.
However, sources close to the party confirm that a strategic roadmap is being finalized and that the surge in interest has only strengthened their resolve.
Meanwhile, critics have accused the coalition of merely rebranding old political faces in a desperate bid for power.
“It’s the same old wolves in new agbada,” activist and entertainer Charly Boy wrote on Facebook.
As the 2027 elections draw nearer, the ADC-led coalition appears to be gaining unexpected traction even if their servers weren’t quite ready for it.
