Just in: NDLEA chairman, Gen. Buba Marwa, loses mother-in-law

Hajiya Zainab Hussain, the mother-in-law of Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), has passed away.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that the late Hajiya Hussain was the mother of Hajiya Munira Marwa, the wife of General Marwa, and died in the early hours of Saturday, June 21, 2025.

She was 76 years old at the time of her passing in Abuja.

A funeral prayer (Janazah) has been scheduled for today, Saturday, June 21, at 2:00 p.m. at the National Mosque in Abuja.

According to the family, she will be laid to rest immediately after the prayers at Gwarinpa Cemetery, Abuja.

In a statement released to the public, the family requested prayers and support during this period of mourning.

“Kindly remember the family in your prayers during this moment of grief,” the family said.

Well-wishers and sympathisers across the country have continued to express condolences to the Marwa family over the loss.

Many described Hajiya Zainab Hussain as a woman of deep faith, known for her humility and compassion.

Prayers are being offered for Allah (SWT) to forgive her shortcomings and grant her eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.

General Marwa, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s fight against drug abuse, has received messages of sympathy from political, religious, and civil society leaders.

The NDLEA boss, who has held various national assignments, is known for his disciplined and impactful public service record.

Hajiya Zainab Hussain’s death comes as a personal loss to a family that has remained in the spotlight due to General Marwa’s national role.

Community members and loved ones are expected to gather at the National Mosque to pay their last respects to the deceased.

The family has continued to receive visits from friends, colleagues, and associates offering condolences and prayers.
