Mr. Mohammed H. Abdullahi, former Minister of Environment under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, has resigned his membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa State.
Abdullahi, a prominent chieftain of the ruling party made his resignation public in a letter addressed to the chairman of the APC in Uke Ward, Karu Local Government Area.
Copies of the letter were also sent to other key party leaders. While the letter did not elaborate on specifics, it attributed the decision to “personal reasons.”
While addressing newsmen in Lafia, Abdullahi’s associate, Mr. Samuel Akala, confirmed the former minister’s exit from the party.
Akala revealed that Abdullahi could soon align with a new political platform, possibly to pursue a bid for the Nasarawa governorship in the 2027 elections.
In his resignation letter, Abdullahi conveyed appreciation for his time with the party, writing, “I wish you and the party good luck.”
Before joining Buhari’s cabinet, Abdullahi played a pivotal role in state politics as Secretary to the State Government during the administration of ex-Governor Tanko Almakura.
His departure from the APC is seen as a significant development, given his political stature and the support he commands across the state.
