The Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ali Dalori, has cautioned members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and other stakeholders not to allow the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje to trigger internal divisions.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that Dalori issued this warning barely days after Ganduje formally stepped down as APC National Chairman due to personal and political circumstances.

Speaking on the current state of the ruling party, Dalori urged party members to remain calm, focused, and united in the face of what he described as a “political transition period.”

He emphasized that such moments often test the strength and discipline of political institutions and should not become a platform for chaos or disintegration.

Dalori appealed to party leaders and supporters to be mindful of their language and actions, warning that inflammatory rhetoric could escalate tensions within the APC.

He noted that Ganduje’s exit, while significant, should not be allowed to distract the party from its goals or fracture the coalition that brought it to power.

According to him, his leadership will soon unveil a comprehensive roadmap designed to steer the party through this transitional phase.

The roadmap, he said, will address critical areas such as internal discipline, reconciliation processes, communication strategies, member mobilisation, and engagement with broader stakeholders.

Dalori also stated that he stepped into the acting chairman role in accordance with the APC constitution and in line with directives from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He expressed gratitude to Ganduje for his contributions during his tenure and wished him a quick recovery, suggesting that his exit was tied to health-related concerns.

Dalori’s message comes at a time when party watchers have noted rising tensions and factions within the APC, particularly between northern and southern blocs.

There is also growing concern about the party’s readiness for upcoming off-season elections and its internal preparations ahead of 2027.

Ganduje’s resignation has created a temporary leadership vacuum, which some fear could be exploited by interest groups seeking greater influence over party direction.

Dalori’s appeal is being interpreted as both a peace offering and a warning against destructive political manoeuvring.

He stressed that the APC must focus on what binds it together, a shared vision for Nigeria’s growth and national unity.

Political analysts say how the APC navigates this period will influence its long-term viability and credibility.

The acting chairman’s proactive stance may serve to calm internal tensions, but the coming weeks are expected to test the resilience of the party’s structure and leadership.
