The Federal High Court in Abuja has ruled that the Department of State Services (DSS) medical facility is adequate for the treatment of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, disclosed this in a post on his official X handle after the court’s ruling.
The court found the DSS medical facility suitable for Kanu’s medical care, dismissing concerns about his health while in custody.
Kanu has until October 30, 2025, to conclude his defense in the ongoing trial.
The case has been adjourned to October 23, 2025, for the commencement of Kanu’s defense.
Kanu is facing terrorism-related charges brought by the federal government.
The court’s decision upholds the DSS’s responsibility for Kanu’s medical care during his trial, while also setting a timeline for his defense.
