Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has signed the state’s 2026 Appropriation Bill into law.
The development followed the passage of the budget by the Rivers State House of Assembly on Thursday after a prolonged delay.
The 26-member Assembly unanimously approved the bill during its resumed sitting in Port Harcourt and subsequently transmitted it to the governor for assent at Government House.
According to the Assembly, the approved budget will cover the fiscal year ending on September 2, 2027.
Fubara had earlier, on June 25, presented the 2026–2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) to the Assembly as part of the process leading to the preparation of the budget.
The approval marks the first time the House of Assembly, under Speaker Martin Amaewhule, has passed a budget presented by the Fubara administration since its inception.
The governor’s assent brings the 2026 Rivers State budget into effect.
