Popular Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has emerged as the running mate of the candidate of the Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Olajide Adediran, aka Jandor, in the 2023 governorship election.
The popular ‘Omo Ghetto’ star, made the announcement herself in a sponsored presentation on Arise Television monitored by News Band on Tuesday.
Confirming the nomination, Akindele said she would work assiduously for the party and for Lagos to have a breath of fresh air.
Also, in a sponsored advert on Tuesday, Dr. Adediran announced the choice of Akindele for the job.
According to him, Funke is from Ikorodu and Lagos East Senatorial District like the incumbent Deputy Governor and has the overwhelming popularity to garner votes.
It was learnt Funke emerged running mate after defeating former governorship aspirant, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour; former Senatorial candidate for Lagos East, Yeye Shobajo, another governorship aspirant, David Kolawole Vaughan known as Dakova and Engr. Teslim Balogun to clinch the slot.
This development comes just few days after the collapse of Funke Akindele”s marriage to JJC Skillz.
