A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, has dismissed the bail application of former Kogi State Governor, Mr. Yahaya Bello, citing procedural flaws.
The presiding judge, Justice Maryann ruled that the application was wrongly filed, as it was submitted on November 22, before Bello was taken into custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on November 26 and subsequently arraigned on November 27, 2024.
Justice Maryann noted that a bail application could not be considered valid if lodged before the applicant being in custody..
Bello, who is facing charges brought by the anti-graft agency, will now remain in custody pending further legal actions.
