JUST IN: PDP Vows to Reclaim Power in 2027, Says Tinubu Is “Bad Market”

As the build-up to the 2027 general elections begins to gather momentum, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, branding him as an unsuitable candidate for re-election.

In what appears to be an early salvo in the forthcoming political battle, the PDP has positioned itself as the only viable alternative with the capacity to oust the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from power.

During a media briefing held in Abuja on Monday, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, took a firm stand, describing President Tinubu as a “bad market.”

He further described him as a leader who has failed to meet the expectations of Nigerians. He asserted that Nigerians are already disillusioned with the APC and are looking forward to the PDP’s return to power.

In his words, “The PDP is the only party that can unseat the APC.

“We have the support, the base, and a national spread.”

This statement reflects the party’s confidence in its nationwide presence and its claim of being the most entrenched political platform across the country.

According to Ologunagba, PDP remains deeply rooted in the consciousness of Nigerians due to its widespread membership and historical impact.

He noted, “There is no community without PDP members, because it is truly the people’s party.

“Nigerians are eager for the PDP’s return.”

This assertion was clearly aimed at reinforcing the party’s relevance and long-standing connection with the grassroots.

The PDP spokesman did not mince words in his criticism of the current administration’s performance.

He attributed the worsening economic conditions, rising insecurity, and general hardship being faced by Nigerians to the failings of the Tinubu-led government.

Drawing on the sentiments of frustration and despair among citizens, he emphatically stated, “With the APC’s numerous failures, I can confidently say that no patriotic Nigerian, group, or political party will support Tinubu in 2027.”

Ologunagba’s message was particularly pointed when he described President Tinubu as a one-term leader, adding that those bearing the brunt of the current economic hardship will likely reject him at the polls.

“It is clear that President Bola Tinubu is a bad market.

“So, no one, whether individual or group, who is experiencing what we’re all going through will vote for Tinubu.

“Tinubu is a bad market and a one-term President.”

This assertion underscores the PDP’s strategic positioning as the most formidable challenger to the APC in the next electoral cycle.

By labeling the President as a failed project, the party is not only drawing battle lines ahead of 2027 but also seeking to capitalize on the perceived shortcomings of the ruling administration.

Reacting to the recent defections by some of its members to the APC and the formation of new political coalitions such as the one under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ologunagba dismissed the development as inconsequential.

He stressed that the PDP remains a resilient and deeply established political entity.

According to him, “Our party is organic and formidable. It is important to make it clear that the people who make up the party are not defecting.”

He went further to clarify that such defections are not indicative of a crisis within the PDP but are rather isolated cases that do not reflect the broader sentiment of the party’s base.

“They are not defecting because of hunger or insecurity,” he stated.

Ologunagba perhaps suggested that the motivations behind these movements are not rooted in policy dissatisfaction but personal or political interests.

Emphasizing the loyalty of PDP supporters and the party’s enduring appeal, Ologunagba maintained, “The people who form the bulk of our party, as well as Nigerians who are apolitical, look up to the PDP.

“So, they are not defecting.”

His remarks seem designed to reassure party loyalists and neutral voters that the PDP remains a beacon of hope for Nigerians seeking change.

In conclusion, as political realignments begin to unfold and the 2027 presidential race inches closer, the PDP appears determined to position itself as the rallying point for all those dissatisfied with the current direction of the country.

Whether this rhetoric will translate into electoral victory remains to be seen, but one thing is clear, the battle lines are already being drawn.
