The Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Kingsley Chinda, has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), in a move confirmed on the floor of the House on Tuesday.
His defection was announced by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, who read a formal letter notifying lawmakers of Chinda’s decision to switch parties. The letter, however, was dated April 23, 2026, raising questions about the timing of the announcement.
Following the disclosure, Chinda also stepped down from his role as Minority Leader in the House.
Further details surrounding the defection and the leadership changes in the minority caucus are still unfolding.
More updates expected…
