Nigerian Senate has commenced the screening of service chiefs.

The screening followed the submission of the substantive appointments of the CDS and service chiefs by president Bola Tinubu to the Senate on Tuesday.

While appearing before the lawmakers on Thursday, the nominees were given the opportunity to introduce themselves.

Lagbaja said he will work with other security chiefs to ensure that the country is secured.

“I have identified some pillars on which my leadership will rest and that includes sound leadership. I have identified and will work with my fellow service chiefs and other security agencies,” he said.

Ogalla on his part said, “I have served in various capacities. I wish to state that if given the opportunity to serve as the chief of naval staff, I will give my best. I fully understand the challenges facing the navy”.

Meanwhile, the screening has now gone into a closed session as the Senate president, Godswill Akpabio has asked journalists, parliamentary staff, aides of lawmakers and visitors to leave the chamber and gallery.
