JUST IN: Soludo Sworn in for Second Term as Anambra Gov

Professor Charles Soludo has been officially sworn in for a second term as governor of Anambra State.

The inauguration ceremony took place on Tuesday at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in the state capital.

Soludo took the oath of office alongside his deputy, Dr Onyeka Ibezim.

The event was attended by top dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, and several other state governors.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Soludo the winner of the November 8, 2025 governorship election, in which a total of 16 candidates contested.

Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) polled 422,664 votes, defeating his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 99,445 votes, while Sir Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) came third with 37,753 votes.

The election saw 598,229 voters accredited out of 2,788,864 registered, with 595,298 votes cast and 11,244 rejected. Soludo secured victories in all 21 local government areas, delivering a landslide win for APGA.
