Tinubu appoints Justice Kekere-Ekun as 23rd CJN

President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the 23rd Chief Justice of Nigeria.

The ceremony took place today, at 11:40 a.m. at the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja, with Kekere-Ekun taking the oath of office and signing the oath register.

Kekere-Ekun’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.

She succeeds Justice Ariwoola, who retired on Thursday after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70. Ariwoola had been in office since June 27, 2022.
