President Bola Tinubu has appointed Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed as the new Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).

This is coming after the abrupt resignation of Ahmed AbubKar on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Mohammed’s appointment as the new Director-General of Intelligence Agency (NIA) was disclosed in a statement by the spokesman of the President, Mr Ajuri Ngelale.

The statement reads, “Ambassador Mohammed brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having started his career in the NIA in 1995. He has held various diplomatic positions, including heading the Nigerian mission to Libya.

“His extensive experience spans across countries like North Korea, Pakistan, and Sudan. A 1990 graduate of Bayero University, Kano, Ambassador Mohammed is well-equipped to lead the NIA in addressing Nigeria’s complex security challenges.

“These appointment mark a significant shift in Nigeria’s security landscape, signaling a new chapter in the country’s efforts to address its security challenges.

“With seasoned professionals like Ambassador Mohammed and Mr. Ajayi at the helm, Nigerians can expect a more robust and effective approach to intelligence gathering and security operations.”
