(DDM) — Toronto Police have intensified their search for a man accused of sexually assaulting a commuter aboard a Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) bus in Scarborough on Monday, October 28, 2025.
Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) gathered that the incident occurred just before 4:30 p.m. in the area of Lawrence Avenue East and Pharmacy Avenue, leaving commuters in shock as the suspect allegedly attacked a passenger before fleeing the scene.
Authorities say the suspect and the victim were not known to each other, suggesting the assault was a random act that has heightened public concern about safety on public transit systems.
According to Toronto Police, the suspect is described as a male between 50 and 60 years old, standing approximately five feet nine to six feet tall, with a large build, balding grey hair, and a grey beard.
He was last seen wearing glasses, a grey coat, a blue button-up shirt, black pants, and black shoes.
Police are urging anyone with information about the suspect’s identity or whereabouts to come forward and contact investigators or reach out to Crime Stoppers anonymously.
DDM learned that Toronto Police have increased surveillance along key TTC routes and are reviewing bus camera footage to track the suspect’s movements before and after the assault.
Transit users have expressed growing anxiety about security within the city’s public transportation network, with advocacy groups calling for additional measures, including more onboard cameras and patrol officers.
“We need to feel safe using public transit,” said Monica Harris, a Scarborough resident. “These incidents are deeply unsettling and demand urgent action.”
Authorities have assured the public that the investigation is ongoing, with officers committed to identifying and apprehending the suspect as quickly as possible.
Anyone who may have been on the bus during the incident or witnessed suspicious behavior in the area is asked to provide statements to assist in the investigation.
Toronto Police reiterated their commitment to ensuring passenger safety and encouraged community cooperation to help bring the suspect to justice.
