The government of United Arab Emirates—UAE, has denied lifting the visa ban it imposed on Nigerians, under the administration of president Muhammadu Buhari.

The recent clarification is coming after the spokesman of the President, Ngelale Ajuri said in a statement on Monday that after a historic meeting between President Bola Tinubu and Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of United Arab Emirates, the visa ban which was slammed on Nigerians was lifted.

Ngelale also disclosed that both Etihad Airlines and Emirates Airlines are to immediately resume flight schedules into and out of Nigeria, without any further delay.

But an official source from the Gulf state that asked not be mentioned told CNN that “There are no changes on the Nigeria/UAE travel status so far.”

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, in what appears to be a face saving move, said that the two countries are still working out the details of the agreement, and that an official announcement will be made in respect to that soon.

He said, “Given the agreement struck between the two Heads of State, there is need to allow cabinet officials from both sides to work out the finer details and finalize the cross-sectoral agreements. Everyone can now allow the process to work itself out organically, devoid of speculation.”
