Kano governor uncovers plot by politicians to cause havoc

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has warned that certain unnamed politicians are plotting to take control of the August 1 protest with the intent of inciting mayhem in the state.
Yusuf, speaking on August 31, 2024, revealed that his government has uncovered plans by some selfish politicians to use the protest as a cover for causing chaos.
He warned that these politicians intend to exploit the situation to unleash havoc.
The governor said: “We are ready to receive protesters for a peaceful dialogue in the Government House.
“I will not run away, let them bring their positions and I will go with my stakeholders to President Tinubu and present our position to him,” he added.
He urged the Federal Government to promptly reconsider fuel and electricity prices.
Additionally, he called for the reopening of borders to facilitate the importation of goods into the country.
Yusuf called on the government to lower the cost of essential commodities and services to improve the quality of life for Nigerians.
“Let me remind you that when we came on board, we spent time to ensure that peace that had been previously eroded in the state was returned.
“We have uncovered moves by some disgruntled elements and politicians to purchase red caps and share them among thugs to use during the protest and loot shops and kill innocent persons,” the Kano State Governor said.
He that his government plans to establish a price control office in the state.
This office will work to stabilize prices and ensure that goods are sold at uniform rates.
He stated that his administration is committed to improving the quality of life for the average citizen.
Additionally, he mentioned that the government has reinstated Public Suggestion Boxes.
These boxes will allow citizens to provide advice and feedback directly to the administration.
