Katsina: Bandits raid general hospital, shoot doctor, kidnap staff

Terror bandits have attacked the General Hospital in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State, shooting a medical doctor and abducting unspecified number of hospital staff.

The attack, which occurred around 7pm on Tuesday, caused panic among hospital staff and patients.

As the criminal elements stormed the premises of the hospital, opening fire indiscriminately, one Dr. Murtala Sale Dandashire was shot in the leg while attending to patients.

A resident, speaking anonymously, confirmed that Dr. Dandashire is alive and receiving treatment at an undisclosed medical facility.

Known for his excellence, the doctor was the overall best graduating student in ABU’s Class of 2019, earning 13 awards for his academic achievements.

Meanwhile, Katsina State Police Command spokesman, Sadiq Abubakar, confirmed the incident in a statement.

He said investigations are ongoing to uncover the details and apprehend the perpetrators.
