The Katsina State Police Command has reportedly repelled a terrorists’ attack along Sabuwa – Mararabar Yakawada Road, Sabuwa Loal Government Area.

According to the Command’s press release, many terrorists were neutralized while one AK-47 and four of their operational motorcycles were recovered.

The action followed a distress call that was received on Wednesday around 1445 hours, that terrorists numbering some thirty on motorcycles, armed with AK-47 rifles, blocked Sabuwa – Mararabar Yakawada road, Sabuwa LGA of Katsina State, with intent to commit armed robbery and kidnapping.

On receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Sabuwa Division, reportedly led a tactical unit to the area and engaged the hoodlums into a fierce gun duel.

According to the report, the team successfully repelled the terrorists from their heinous mission.

The Command said that in the course of scanning the scene, a terrorist was neutralized.

It also said that one AK-47 rifle and four of their operational motorcycles were recovered.

“It is feared that many terrorists were neutralized and/or escaped the scene with gun shots wounds. Investigation is ongoing,” the report concluded.

Some observers, however, faulted the report wondering how many terrorists will be neutralized but only one AK-47 recovered.

Neville Olabode, replying to the Police on his Twitter handle @nevilbot, said:

“How do u neutralize “many” terrorists but only recover one gun? The other neutralized terrorist came to fight against police with sticks? This story falls short!”

AustynIyasele, @IyaseleAustyn, said:

“Many terrorists were neutralized but only one AK 47 was recovered aside the vehicles. How do we justify this?”

Other, however, hailed the police for the feat.
