A group, Rules Watch in Defence of Human Rights and Gender Empowerment Network, has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for snubbing the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council spokesman and former Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, in ministerial nominations.
In a memo, while responding to activist Deji Adeyanju, who lamented that Keyamo was snubbed in ministerial list despite tireless advocacy for Tinubu, said in response to Mr Keyamo’s friend:
“Festus Keyamo does not have to be a Minister again.
“Festus Keyamo isn’t the only one in Delta State. He had been a Minister and he had huge political benefits of the national cherry.
“There is a female nominee from Delta State and the State hasn’t hadn’t a female Minister in decades. Of the 28 ministerial nominees (that is before today’s added list of 19 sent to Senate).
“Of 28 names there were 7 female nominees spread across regions which is more than the previous regime conceded to women.
“Recall that during Tinubu’s regime as Gov. Lagos State unprecedented number of women were appointed as High Court Judges of Lagos State including non-indigenes.”
The group, in the statement thanked President Tinubu for working towards gender justice.
To Festus Keyamo, the group said:
“I think it’s time you resumed fully in your chambers and leave the Delta State Lady ministerial nominee Okotete alone.
“Do you know any of those sponsoring petitions against her? Stella Okotete isn’t a Saint, neither are you!
“Google Festus Keyamo to see that you are NOT a Saint also,” the group added. Read more.
