Governor Idris WadaA civil society group in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kogi Movement for Change (KMFC), raised the alarm over plans by Governor Idris Wada to use the N50 billion bailout funds to prosecute his governorship ambition and fund his campaign in the November election.

The bailout funds from the Federal Government were meant offset workers’ salaries.

The National Leader of the group, Hon. Gbemisola Olukoya who spoke on behalf of the group said it is conscienceless, unholy, and the height of betrayal of public trust.

According to him, a government and a governor should preside over the husbandry and judicious use of the State patrimony is nursing a selfish but cancerous agenda instead of diverting funds meant to better the lots of workers to sponsor the governor’s second term bid.

“We have been getting tattles in this regard from a number of sources in Lugard House. It is unconscionable and unfair for the governor to embark on a plot to massively squander our collective commonwealth on his re-election.

“The bailout fund is meant for our workers and not meant to be lavished on and cajole the Kogi electorate to vote for Wada in the forthcoming governorship election.

“We vehemently condemn this move by the governor and will do everything possible to stop this proposed illicit money sharing jamboree”, he said.

The group lamented that governor Wada who has spent barely four years in office and have received more allocation from the federal coffers than what all governments before him had received in four year has dismally failed in providing the dividends of democracy to the Kogi people and have resorted to fritter State funds to gain political advantage in the forthcoming election.
