Following the bandit attack on worshippers at CAC Church Oke-Isegun in Eruku, where three people were killed and several others kidnapped, the military has taken control of the community to restore order.
Community spokesman Ayeni Olanipekun confirmed the development, stating that soldiers have been deployed to Eruku, alongside the state Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, and his team.
“We learned that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the deployment of military personnel to the community,” Olanipekun said.
He also noted that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is expected to visit Eruku with his team.
Speaking on the issue of rescue efforts, he explained that local hunters had been sent into the forests to search for the abducted victims, though many had yet to return.
Recall that a viral video of the attack showed the bandits firing indiscriminately inside the church as worshippers, both young and old, scrambled for cover.
Some bandits were seen chasing worshippers into smaller rooms within the church, while others were captured looting handbags left behind on the seats.
Efforts to rescue the abducted worshippers are ongoing, with security forces and local volunteers working to address the crisis.
