The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara State Council, has affirmed the election of Comrade Ibrahim Alagunmu of Gbelegbo Newspaper as Assistant Secretary following a duly conducted bye-election.
The decision was part of the resolutions reached at an emergency congress held on November 21, 2025, at the chapel secretariat, where members deliberated on key administrative matters.
The congress also witnessed the formal swearing-in of Comrades Alagunmu and Ibrahim Alege of TVC. Alege took his oath of office officially after missing the November 1 general election due to unavoidable circumstances.
Members further reaffirmed their confidence in the Chapel’s Executive Committee led by Comrade Abiola Azeez, pledging full cooperation to enable the leadership carry out its mandate effectively.
The communiqué was issued by the Communiqué Drafting Committee, which described the resolutions as steps taken in the spirit of unity, transparency, and commitment to responsible journalism.
