Labour Party Senator Joins APC
Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi, the lawmaker representing Imo East and a member of the Labour Party (LP) has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, read Onyewuchi’s defection letter on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday.
According to Onyewuchi, his reason to join APC is due to the intractable division and crisis in the Labour Party.
“The communication is therefore made pursuant to Section 68(1g) of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.
“Imo state and the entirety of the south-east remain united under the leadership of our performing governor, his excellency, Hope Uzodimma”, the letter partly reads.
The defection was witnessed by Hope Uzodimma, governor of Imo State and chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), who was present in the chamber.
The process of Onyewuchi’s defection started long ago as he had been hobnobbing with APC in the State.
Last week, the senator perfected his move in Abakiliki, Ebonyi State rally where the APC South East held her meeting.
