Lagos guber: Yoruba attacked for looking like Igbo – GRV

The face-off between Yoruba and Igbo in Lagos State have continued to generate reaction following the conduct of the governorship election.

Gbadebo Rhode-Vivour, the Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos State, said Yoruba were assaulted because they looked like Igbo during Saturday’s poll.

Rhodes-Vivour disclosed this during a press conference in Lagos State.

He urged people of the state to rise up against tribal and ethnic sentiment.

He lamented that ethnic tribalism has been normalised under the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.

According to Rhodes-Vivour: “The people must stand up against this ethnic tribalism that the APC government is trying to normalise in our state.

“This started all the way from EndSARS when they made us believe that it did not happen, yet you have the Commissioner of Police saying this is a free and fair election.

” Yoruba people were being assaulted because they looked like Igbos, this is what Lagos has become under the APC government.

“This can’t continue, and I call on every well-meaning Lagosian to stand up because this can’t continue.

“There is a saying that when they came for the Jews you kept quiet, when they came for the Muslims you were quiet; eventually when they come for you, everybody will be quiet.

“We must stand against this because real lives and business are at stake here.”
