Lagos State Govt initiates renovation of Glover memorial hall

Lagos, Nigeria – To preserve and enhance one of its iconic heritage sites, the Lagos State Government has launched a comprehensive refurbishment of Glover Memorial Hall. Notably, the announcement appeared on the state’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle on May 17, 2025. This project highlights the government’s dedication to maintaining cultural landmarks while modernizing them for contemporary use.

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, alongside the Office of Works, awarded the renovation contract to Mr. Olalekan Laniyan of Kross Country Communication Limited. Importantly, the handover ceremony occurred on May 16, 2025, signaling the start of extensive upgrades. Consequently, the historic venue will soon regain its prominence as a hub for cultural events.

Glover Memorial Hall, renowned for its historical value, will receive critical upgrades to improve its structure and functionality. Specifically, workers will install a retractable roof, replace auditorium seating, and enhance both interior and exterior spaces. During a recent site inspection, officials from both ministries, along with the project supervisor and facility manager, reviewed the scope and timelines. Additionally, the contractor confirmed a phased execution plan, ensuring minimal disruption to scheduled events. This approach allows the hall to remain partially operational during renovations.
