Lakurawa terrorists kill 13, burn 7 villages in Kebbi reprisal attack

In what appears to be a retaliatory attack, suspected members of Lakurawa terrorist group, launched a vicious attack on Birnin Dede village in Kebbi State on Sunday, killing 13 people and setting seven villages ablaze.
A local resident simply identified as Malam Umar, revealed that the criminal elements targeted communities in the Arewa Local Government Area, allegedly avenging the recent killing of their leader, Maigemu by a joint security task force.
The attack has left residents in fear, with many fleeing their homes for safety.
“The terrorists burned down several villages, sparing only one that was protected by soldiers. We seek protection from Allah against this dreaded group,” Malam Umar said.
The unfortunate attack follows a security operation led by the Kebbi state government, during which Maigemu, a notorious terrorist kingpin, was killed.
The operation was backed by Governor Nasir Idris as part of efforts to curb violent activities in the state.
Meanwhile, Kebbi state police command is yet to issue a statement in respect to the development.
