Liverpool returned to winning ways in impressive fashion after securing a 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday, November 8, 2026, with Alexis Mac Allister, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak finding the net to deliver a much-needed three points for Andoni Iraola’s side.
The Reds produced a clinical performance to overcome a Palace team that threatened repeatedly, particularly in the first half, but ultimately paid the price for failing to convert their opportunities. Eddie Nketiah grabbed a late consolation from the penalty spot, but it was not enough to prevent the Eagles from suffering another Premier League defeat.
Liverpool entered the encounter looking to recover from consecutive defeats against Arsenal and Fenerbahce, while Palace were desperate to end a difficult run of league results.
The visitors started brightly, with Mac Allister testing Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson inside the opening 30 seconds. Dominik Szoboszlai also forced the goalkeeper into action with a powerful effort from distance in the 14th minute.
However, Palace gradually grew into the contest and came agonisingly close to taking the lead in the 18th minute.
A beautifully constructed attacking move saw Tyrick Mitchell advance down the left before delivering a dangerous cross into the penalty area. Yéremy Pino brought the ball under control with impressive technique before unleashing a fierce left-footed strike that beat Alisson Becker but crashed against the crossbar.
It was a spectacular effort that left the Liverpool goalkeeper stranded and provided an early warning of Palace’s attacking threat.
Liverpool responded through Jérémy Jacquet, who headed over from a corner as both sides continued to exchange attacking opportunities.
Palace remained dangerous on the counterattack, with Jørgen Strand Larsen seeing an effort deflected wide in the 31st minute. The Norwegian subsequently appeared to have restored the hosts’ advantage after finishing a move involving Daichi Kamada, but his effort was ruled out for offside following a VAR review in the 33rd minute.
The home side continued to press, and Kamada came particularly close to scoring in the 38th minute. Meeting Mitchell’s delivery, the Japanese midfielder connected beautifully with a volley, but Alisson produced an outstanding reflex save to push the effort away.
The goalkeeper’s intervention proved crucial as Liverpool took the lead just two minutes later.
In the 40th minute, Szoboszlai delivered a dangerous free-kick into the Palace penalty area, where Mac Allister escaped his marker and darted towards the near post. The Argentine midfielder met the delivery with a clever glancing header that flew beyond Henderson and into the net.
The goal gave Liverpool a 1-0 advantage against the run of play, with Szoboszlai providing the assist.
Palace attempted to respond before the interval, and Adam Wharton came close with a glancing header that forced another excellent save from Alisson.
Liverpool also had an opportunity to extend their advantage in first-half stoppage time, but Ronald Araujo failed to generate sufficient power from close range after a flick-on by Jacquet.
Despite Palace’s promising attacking display, Liverpool went into the break with a narrow lead.
The visitors returned for the second half with greater purpose and doubled their advantage in the 54th minute.
Bradley Barcola accelerated down the right flank during a swift Liverpool counterattack before delivering a low ball into the penalty area. Florian Wirtz arrived at the right moment and calmly swept the ball into the far corner with a first-time finish, leaving Henderson with little chance.
The German midfielder’s composed strike made it 2-0 and gave Liverpool a significant advantage.
Palace attempted to find a route back into the contest, but Liverpool’s defensive organisation made it increasingly difficult for the hosts to create clear-cut opportunities.
Tyrick Mitchell produced an important sliding intervention in the 58th minute to prevent Barcola from getting a clear shot away, while the visitors continued to threaten on the counterattack.
Liverpool made changes as the match progressed, introducing fresh attacking options to maintain their intensity.
Palace, however, refused to surrender. In the 76th minute, Pino found himself with a promising opportunity after a pull-back from substitute Dario Osorio, but his effort was blocked by Alisson, who reacted quickly to prevent the ball from reaching the target.
Just a minute later, Wharton produced an intelligent pass over the Liverpool defence to release Eddie Nketiah. The substitute found himself in a promising shooting position but failed to keep his effort down, sending the ball over the crossbar.
Liverpool nearly added a third in the 86th minute when Alexander Isak broke through on goal, only for Henderson to produce an excellent save in a one-on-one situation.
However, the Palace goalkeeper could not keep the Swedish striker out for much longer.
In the 89th minute, Liverpool launched another rapid counterattack, with substitute Victor Muñoz carrying the ball forward before finding Wirtz. The German midfielder then released Isak, whose effort took a deflection before beating Henderson to make it 3-0.
The goal effectively ended Palace’s hopes of mounting a comeback and underlined Liverpool’s superiority in the decisive moments.
There was still time for the hosts to find a consolation goal deep into stoppage time. In the 90+5th minute, Osorio was brought down inside the penalty area by Milos Kerkez, prompting referee Tony Harrington to point to the spot.
Nketiah stepped forward and confidently converted the penalty, sending Alisson the wrong way to reduce the deficit to 3-1.
It proved to be the final significant moment of the contest as Liverpool held on to secure a valuable victory away from home.
The result ended Liverpool’s disappointing run of consecutive defeats and provided a timely boost ahead of the international break. Their ability to withstand Palace’s first-half pressure before punishing defensive openings demonstrated the importance of taking chances at crucial moments.
For Crystal Palace, the defeat represented another frustrating afternoon. Despite creating several promising opportunities and striking the crossbar, their inability to convert those chances ultimately cost them.
Liverpool leave Selhurst Park with all three points, while Palace are left searching for answers after another damaging Premier League result.
