Maddox Jolie-Pitt, the eldest son of Hollywood stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, has reportedly taken steps to distance himself from his father’s surname, reigniting public attention on the family’s long-standing tensions.
According to reports, Maddox has initiated a legal request to drop “Pitt” from his name, seeking to be officially known as Maddox Chivan Jolie. The move, which is still awaiting court approval, marks a significant shift in his personal identity.
This development follows a similar change in his professional life. In the credits of Angelina Jolie’s film Couture, where he worked as an assistant director, he was listed simply as Maddox Jolie, further signaling his preference for his maternal surname.
Maddox is not alone in making this decision. Several of his siblings have also distanced themselves from the Pitt name in recent years. Shiloh Jolie legally removed “Pitt” from her surname, while Zahara Jolie and Vivienne Jolie have reportedly stopped using it in public.
The reported changes come years after the highly publicised split between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, a separation that has remained a subject of public and media scrutiny.
While Maddox’s legal request is yet to be finalised, the move has sparked renewed discussions about the state of the Jolie-Pitt family relationships and the lasting impact of the former couple’s separation.
