IBADAN, NIGERIA — Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has approved fresh appointments in the state, including Pastor Akin Alamu as a member of the Oyo State Elders’ Council.
The appointments were announced on Friday in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, in Ibadan. According to the statement, the appointments take immediate effect.
The statement listed other appointees as Mrs. Funmilayo Ojo as Senior Special Assistant on Women Affairs, Mr. Tunde Adeyemi as Senior Special Assistant on Youth Development, and Mr. Ibrahim Olanrewaju as Senior Special Assistant on Community Relations. It also announced the appointment of Mr. Segun Adebayo as Chairman of the Oyo State Boundary Commission and Mrs. Bisi Akande as a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission.
“The Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has approved the following appointments with immediate effect: Pastor Akin Alamu as a member of the Oyo State Elders’ Council; Mrs. Funmilayo Ojo as Senior Special Assistant on Women Affairs; Mr. Tunde Adeyemi as Senior Special Assistant on Youth Development; Mr. Ibrahim Olanrewaju as Senior Special Assistant on Community Relations; Mr. Segun Adebayo as Chairman of the Oyo State Boundary Commission; and Mrs. Bisi Akande as a member of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission,” the statement read.
The statement said the appointments were made in recognition of the appointees’ track records of service, dedication, and commitment to the development of Oyo State. It urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by the governor and to contribute their quota to the administration’s efforts to deliver good governance.
“The governor congratulates the new appointees and urges them to see their appointments as a call to service. He charges them to discharge their duties with integrity, diligence, and a deep sense of responsibility,” the statement added.
Pastor Akin Alamu is a renowned cleric and community leader in Oyo State, known for his contributions to religious harmony and community development. His appointment to the Elders’ Council is seen as a recognition of his influence and his commitment to the welfare of the people.
