The Governor of Oyo State, Mr. Seyi Makinde, has officially presented the Staff of Office to the newly appointed Alaafin of Oyo, His Royal Majesty, Abimbola Owoade.
The presentation ceremony was held on Monday at the Governor’s office in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
Moreover, this marks a historic moment in the rich history of the Alaafin’s dynasty, as the respected traditional ruler assumes his new role.
Last Friday, the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, said Owoade after thorough consultations and divinations, was recommended by the Oyomesi and approved by the Governor.
He said the announcement put to rest, all the socio and legal crisis that erupted since the death of Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III on April 22, 2022.
However, the commissioner called on all citizens of Oyo State to join the government in celebrating this momentous occasion and lend their support to the new Alaafin of Oyo.
