A man identified as Esosa Imasuen has allegedly killed his wife, Chinwedu Nnadozie, following a violent altercation in Edo State.
The sad incident occurred on Oza Street in the Ogbelaka area along Sakponba Road, Benin City.
According to reports, Esosa assaulted his wife, a mother of three, during a heated argument, inflicting fatal injuries.
Local residents expressed shock over the tragedy, describing the couple as relatively quiet but troubled.
While speaking of the incident, the father of the deceased Everistus Nnadoze said he was called that his son-in-law, Esosa Imasuen had beaten her daughter and left her with serious injuries.
“They said he took her to the hospital where a doctor was said to have carried out some tests on her, and the result showed that she has internal bleeding”, he said.
He said she later gave up the ghost at the hospital before he could reach her, adding that he was not able to see her corpse.
They said Imasuen took her corpse to an undisclosed mortuary alone. ”I went to his house, they said he had absconded”.
He said he had been calling the son-in law to come and show him the mortuary where his daughter’s corpse, but he has not showed up.
When contacted the Edo command’s spokesman said he has contacted many police stations in Benin and none of them had received such a report.
