A man identified as Mr Fatai Hamzat has committed suicide in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
He reportedly hanged himself in his apartment on Oremeji Street, Ijeun Tuntun on Friday morning, November 29, 2024.
Neighbours discovered Hamzat’s body around 7am.
“I had just returned from church when I noticed Azeez’s motorcycle parked in the compound. I went to check on him, but his door was locked from the inside,” a neighbour told the police.
After repeated knocking with no response from Hamzat, neighbours forced his window open.
While peeping through the window, they allegedly found Hamzat’s body hanging from a rope tied to the ceiling fan.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson of Ogun State police command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident.
The police image maker said that the body was taken to a nearby hospital morgue for an autopsy.
“The deceased was found hanging in his apartment after several attempts to reach him failed. An investigation into the incident is ongoing,” Odutola added
