Man kills sons over poor academic performance

In a shocking incident, a man in Andhra Pradesh, India, on Friday, drowned his own kids in water-filled buckets due to poor academic performance.
According to reports, the man later hung himself to death from a ceiling fan in his bedroom, on Friday.
The deceased man, identified as Vanapalli Chandra Kishore, was working as an assistant accountant at ONGC in Vakalapudi.
ONGC stands for Oil and Natural Gas Company.
The incident took place at Bhudevi Apartments in Thota Subbarao Nagar in Kakinada district.
It happened while his family members were celebrating Holi at his workplace.
Kishore had recently relocated to Kakinada with his wife Tanuja and their two sons — Joshil (7) and Nikhil (6).

A PTI official was quoted as saying,
“Kishore killed his sons due to their poor academic performance, fearing they would struggle and suffer in a competitive world if they did not excel in their studies.
“Unable to bear this thought, he took the extreme step.”
Kishore reportedly told his wife that he was taking children to a tailor for getting school uniforms and left the Holi celebrations.
However, when he did not return, wife Tanuja grew suspicious.
Upon reaching home, she was shocked to find Kishore hanging and kids in buckets.
DSP Devaraj Patil said that Kishore tied the hands and legs of his two children, drowned them in water-filled buckets.
After taking the lives of his own children, he then took his own life.
Local police reportedly recovered a suicide note written by Chandra Kishore.
He reportedly mentioned that he was deeply troubled by his children’s inability to cope with academic competition.
A note reportedly revealed his anxiety about his children’s future.
Meanwhile, urging authorities to conduct a thorough investigation, Kishore’s elder brother stated that his brother was financially stable and owned assets.
Police said that forensic teams have been deployed and further investigation is currently underway.
Four teenage boys also drowned in Ulhas river in Thane district’s Badlapur area.
The incident took place at around 10 am on Friday, police said.

Officials added that a suicide note was recovered from the scene, and its contents are being examined. Forensic teams have been deployed, and an investigation has been launched to determine the precise circumstances that led to this tragedy.
In a similar case, a 35-year-old man allegedly strangled his seven-year-old son and then died by suicide.
According to officials, the mother said that she had gone to the market and upon her return, she found her son’s body hanging.
The body was rushed to a government hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.
The mother filed a complaint against the father, but he had absconded.
However, a day later, the father’s body was found hanging nearly three kilometres from the crime scene.
An investigating officer told HT that, according to the initial probe, it appeared to be a case of suicide.
“We have sent the bodies for post-mortem examinations, and the cause of death of both father and son will be ascertained once we receive the reports.”
Meanwhile, in separate incidents on Holi, two boys drowned in Uttar Pradesh and three people drowned in Maharashtra’s Pune districts.
