Man’s Hand Chopped Off in Brutal Niger State Attack

Tension gripped the Sheshi Dama community in Bida Local Government Area of Niger State following a violent assault that left one man mutilated and another seriously injured.

Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) reports that the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, July 10, 2025, when two brothers from Fulani Camp in Etsugaie Village were ambushed during a visit to a female acquaintance.

The victims have been identified as Baba Gozan and Wada Gozan.

According to their father, Mohammed Umar, the attackers, armed with machetes and sticks, were from another Fulani camp located in Kafa Village.

He named the assailants as Goga Maigari, Kura Maigari, Rani Maigari, and Ado Yambe.

The assailants allegedly launched the attack over a suspected romantic rivalry.

During the gruesome assault, Baba Gozan’s right hand was completely severed, while his brother Wada sustained deep machete cuts to his head and right hand.

Alarmed residents in the area rushed to the scene and helped evacuate the victims to Agaie General Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.

Reports indicate that the suspects fled the area immediately after the attack and remain on the run.

Police authorities have confirmed the incident and announced that investigations are underway to locate and arrest the fleeing suspects.

Community elders have condemned the violence and appealed for calm, urging the security agencies to act swiftly to bring the attackers to justice and prevent a possible cycle of retaliation.

The shocking nature of the attack has left the local community shaken, with renewed calls for tighter security in rural settlements.
