Mark Zuckerberg Regains Fifth Place On Global Billionaires Ranking

Share this:

NEW YORK — Meta Platforms Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg has regained his position as the world’s fifth-richest person after a decline in Dell Technologies’ share price reduced the net worth of company founder Michael Dell.

According to the latest Forbes Real-Time Billionaires rankings, Zuckerberg’s estimated net worth rose to $222.1 billion, placing him ahead of Dell, whose fortune declined to $221.1 billion following a recent selloff in Dell Technologies shares.

The change in the rankings came after Dell Technologies’ stock fell 3.3 percent on Monday, extending losses recorded during the previous week and leaving the company’s shares more than 18 percent below their record intraday high reached in early June.

Despite the recent decline, Michael Dell remains one of the biggest beneficiaries of the rapid expansion in artificial intelligence investment this year.

Dell Technologies’ shares have recorded significant gains over the course of 2026, driven by strong demand for servers and data centre infrastructure supporting artificial intelligence applications.

The rally has helped increase Michael Dell’s wealth substantially since the beginning of the year, even after the latest market correction.

Industry analysts say growing investment in AI infrastructure has positioned Dell Technologies among the leading suppliers of hardware powering large-scale artificial intelligence systems worldwide.

Strong financial performance earlier in the year also helped propel Michael Dell briefly ahead of Zuckerberg in the global wealth rankings.

Meanwhile, Meta Platforms’ shares recovered from earlier losses during Monday’s trading session, helping Zuckerberg maintain a slight lead over Dell in the latest billionaire rankings.

Zuckerberg’s return to the world’s top five wealthiest individuals marks another shift in a fortune that has experienced significant fluctuations in recent years alongside the performance of Meta’s stock.

He became the youngest person to surpass a personal fortune of $100 billion in 2021, with much of his wealth tied to his ownership stake in Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.

His net worth declined sharply in 2022 as investors reacted to Meta’s heavy investment in metaverse technologies, leading to a substantial fall in the company’s share price.

Since then, Meta has regained investor confidence through improved profitability and increased investment in artificial intelligence, contributing to a strong recovery in its market value.

The renewed growth has restored much of Zuckerberg’s wealth and reinforced Meta’s position among the world’s largest technology companies.

Market analysts say the latest change in the billionaire rankings highlights how fluctuations in technology company share prices continue to reshape the fortunes of some of the world’s wealthiest individuals, particularly as investor interest in artificial intelligence remains a major driver of market performance.
