Marwa urges NDLEA officers to stay committed in drug war; Commissions new facilities in Kano

Kano, Nigeria – April 19, 2025- Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), rallied officers on Saturday to intensify efforts against drug trafficking.

Speaking at the commissioning of new accommodation blocks and a rehabilitation center in Kano, he stressed that robust living conditions directly enhance operational effectiveness.

Furthermore, the facilities—designed for zonal, airport, and strike force personnel—reflect President Bola Tinubu’s prioritization of welfare reforms for security agencies.

“Quality housing sharpens focus and fortifies resolve,” Marwa declared, linking morale to Nigeria’s broader anti-drug strategy.

Notably, this follows February’s barrack launch in Yola, while completed projects in Abuja and ongoing builds in Enugu and Lagos signal nationwide progress.

Moreover, Marwa framed the infrastructure as symbolic of dignity for NDLEA teams.

“We face immense challenges,” he acknowledged, “but improved environments empower officers physically and mentally to combat trafficking.”

He praised Kano’s recent arrests and seizures, underscoring the state’s strategic role due to its international border and airport.

Additionally, Marwa urged personnel to maintain discipline in the new facilities, calling the event a milestone in building a resilient, mission-driven agency.

He thanked President Tinubu for sustained support and recognized stakeholders aiding NDLEA’s mandate.

During the ceremony, Maryam Gambo Sani, Zone 3 Commander, was promoted to Deputy Commander General of Narcotics.

As Nigeria’s drug war escalates, these investments mark a critical step toward safeguarding communities and strengthening frontline responders.

Marwa’s message resonated clearly: enduring success demands courage, discipline, and unwavering institutional support.
