MASSOB condemns IPOB’s Mondays’ sit-at-home order, seeks Kanu’s unconditional release

The leadership of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has condemned the Mondays’ sit-at-home order issued by the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).

MASSOB also reiterated its demand for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu abducted and detained by the Nigeria federal government.

MASSOB National Director of Information, Comrade Edeson Samuel made the remarks in a press release issued on Sunday.

Comrade Edeson called upon Igbo political, traditional and religious leaders to rise in defense of Nnamdi Kanu.

MASSOB, however, condemned any activity that will jeopardize the security and economy of Ndigbo in Nigeria, especially IPOB’s sit-at-home order.

Edeson recalled how the Igbos were harshly subjected to economic and political slavery in Nigeria and said that they can’t continue to inflict more economic pains on Ndigbo.

“Igbo economic interest must be considered first,” he stated emphatically.

MASSOB advised IPOB to reach out and build more synergy with strategic Igbo leaders for release of Nnamdi Kanu.

“Declaration of weekly sit-at-home order and closing of major markets in Igbo land amounts to self-economic destruction of Igbo businesses,” Edeson said.

He pledged continued effort to engage Ndigbo for the release of Nnamdi Kanu “because he is our brother”.

He, however, averred that MASSOB can never support any insensitive activities that will bastardize and relegate Biafra National day commemoration which always comes up on May 30th.

“Sit-at-home exercise is ceremonially cerebrated annually on 30th May,” he stressed.

MASSOB further urged Igbo leaders to emulate the eloquent and bold steps taken by the leaders of Yoruba nation in defense of their son, Sunday Igboho.

It said Igbo leaders should learn how to protect and preserve their own.

“President Muhammadu Buhari and his Fulani tribal leaders have always protected and preserved their Miyetti Allah, terrorist Fulani herdsmen and armed bandits because they don’t believe in the corporate existence of Nigeria where equity and true federalism works,” Edeson said.

MASSOB acknowledged the eloquent efforts of Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe in quality representation of Ndigbo in Nigeria.

It equally salute Governors Samuel Ortom and Okezie Ikpeazu of Benue and Abia States for their positive reactions against the abduction of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu by the President Buhari-led federal government.
