The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has expressed shock over the death of “foremost Igbo leader”, High Chief Mbazulike Amaechi.

THis was contained in a press release issued by the MASSOB National Director of Information, Comrade Edeson Samuel, on Thursday.

Comrade Edeson noted that Ndigbo lost a fearless and eloquent leader, a national peacemaker, a hero, a selfless leader and a father with the death of Chief Amaechi.

He described him as a visionary leader and lover of Igbo nation, recalling that he was Nigeria’s first Aviation minister and a prominent member of the Zikism Movement, as well as a Biafran General.

“MASSOB and Biafrans in general mourns his demise. His fatherly advise, admonishments and roles he played in the fight for the enmacipation of igbo nation can never be forgotten by Ndigbo and the world at large Chief Mbazuluike Amechi is a true son of Igbo land .

“It is more painful that his last wish of releasing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was yet to be granted by General Muhammadu Buhari led APC federal government of Nigeria,” Edeson stated.

MASSOB, therefore, called on General Buhari to grant the last wish of Chief Mbazulike by releasing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu without further delay.

The group insisted that his last wish must be done even in his death because the last wish of a patriarch in African tradition must be adhered to even in his death.

“The spirit of Chief Mbazuluike Amechi must be appeased by releasing Mazi Nnamdi Kanu for him to rest in peace. Failing to release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will attract more devastative calamities and wrath to Nigeria,” the statement added.

It reminded President Muhammadu Buhari about his promise to Chief Amaechi, saying that the Court will decide on the case of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
