Mbah cracks down on journalists for exposing his NYSC certificate forgery

The governor of Enugu State, Dr Peter Mbah, has been accused by the publisher of Point Blank News, Mr Jackson Ude of allegedly cracking down on journalists and civil society groups for exposing his NYSC certificate forgery.

Ude who is a US based investigative journalist in a report posted on his official Twitter handle, revealed that a freelance journalist and civil society group member were arrested at the weekend by plain clothes police operatives.

Their arrest according to Mr Ude was ordered by Dr Peter Mbah, governor of Enugu State who has become worried since his NYSC certificate forgery scandal became a national discourse.

The arrested victims whose names were not revealed were charged at the Enugu Magistrate court for cyberstalking, inciting violence and kidnapping.

Though, Ude said they were granted bail and directed to report to the police whenever their attention is needed.

Part of the report reads, “Embattled Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State is now cracking down on Journalists and members of the civil society who are exposing his NYSC Certificate forgery.

“A freelance Igbo reporter with a foreign media organization and a civil society group member were abducted from their homes at the weekend by plain clothes policemen, charged at the Enugu Magistrate Court today for cyberstalking, inciting violence and kidnapping.

“They have been granted bail and asked to report to the police anytime they are required to.

“Mbah who forged an NYSC certificate has been desperate to hang on as Governor in the face of a looming sack by the election tribunal.

“Officials from NYSC told the tribunal that the NYSC certificate the embattled Governor presented to contest the Governorship election is fake.”
