Nigerian comedian Mcee Slimjoe has criticised singer Speed Darlington, accusing him of failing to appreciate the support he allegedly received from people around him.
Slimjoe made the remarks after reportedly travelling from Abia State to Lagos in 2025 to attend Speed Darlington’s show, only to receive ₦50,000 from the singer.
“Speed Darlington is a wicked person. He’s not the type of person people should associate with. I once travelled from Abia to Lagos for his show in 2025, only for him to give me ₦50,000,” Slimjoe said.
The comedian reportedly recounted several occasions when he supported Speed Darlington, alleging that the singer failed to acknowledge his efforts despite the time and resources he invested in maintaining their relationship.
His comments emerged just hours after Speed Darlington’s manager reportedly announced his departure from the role, with the manager alleging that the singer paid him only ₦200,000 out of the millions he won from boxing.
The two separate complaints have drawn attention to questions about Speed Darlington’s relationships with people who have worked with or supported him.
According to the manager’s allegation, the amount he received did not reflect what he believed he was entitled to following the singer’s boxing earnings. However, details of their agreement, the total winnings involved and the circumstances surrounding the payment have not been independently established.
Slimjoe’s account similarly reflects his personal experience and his dissatisfaction with the amount he received after attending the singer’s event. His statement does not, on its own, establish whether the payment was intended as a performance fee, transport reimbursement or another form of compensation.
The developments have prompted renewed discussion about how entertainers compensate managers, collaborators and supporters, particularly when financial success becomes part of the public conversation.
Speed Darlington, popularly known as Akpi, is known for his provocative personality and outspoken public image. The latest allegations, however, centre on his reported dealings with people within his professional and social circle.
Neither allegation should be treated as independently proven based solely on the statements attributed to Slimjoe and the former manager. A response from Speed Darlington addressing the specific claims was not included in the information available.
