American singer and songwriter Megan Thee Stallion is set to make a groundbreaking Broadway debut in Moulin Rouge! The Musical, taking on the role of nightclub manager Harold Zidler, a character originally brought to life by Tony Award winner Danny Burstein. This casting marks the first time a woman will portray the role in any production of ‘Moulin Rouge’ worldwide.
Before this opportunity, Megan’s acting experience was limited to her guest hosting stint on Saturday Night Live in 2022 during Season 48. Her transition to Broadway represents a bold step into live theatre, a medium that demands precision, discipline, and a unique style of storytelling.
Expressing excitement about the role, Megan said, “Stepping onto the Broadway stage and joining the ‘Moulin Rouge! The Musical is an absolute honour. I’ve always believed in pushing myself creatively, and theatre is definitely a new opportunity that I am excited to embrace. Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation and storytelling, but I am up for the challenge, and can’t wait for the Hotties to see a new side of me.”
The show will feature Megan from March 24 to May 17, a special eight-week run that coincides with the musical’s final performances after seven years on Broadway. By the end of its run, ‘Moulin Rouge! The Musical’ will have played 2,265 shows, securing its place as the 36th longest-running production in Broadway history.
Producer Carmen Pavlovic hailed Megan’s casting as a historic moment and a perfect way to close the show with energy and flair. Pavlovic described the singer as a “true global superstar” whose influence on music and culture is undeniable, emphasizing that her presence will make the farewell run unforgettable for both longtime fans of the musical and her dedicated followers.
Fans can also look forward to a special treat as Megan incorporates elements of her own iconic music catalogue into the performance, blending her signature style with the vibrant spectacle of Broadway theatre. The announcement has generated widespread excitement, promising a historic and unforgettable conclusion to one of Broadway’s most celebrated productions.
