Messi warms up for PSG transfer —Report

Argentine football superstar, Lionel Messi is putting final touches to a transfer deal to Paris Saint Germaine (PSG) on personal terms, according to reports from France and Spain.

Messi failed to sign a new deal with Barcelona on Thursday after the La Liga giants confessed they could not register a new contract, even with a 50 per cent pay cut.

The football giants cited dire financial situation and new La Liga salary caps as reasons behind the botched deal.

Although Diario AS reported that Chelsea asked for an emergency meeting with Messi’s entourage, PSG were the perceived favourites.

In the meantime, according to sources ranging from French transfer expert Saber Desfarges to TNT Sports in Argentina and others, it seems the negotiations could be finalised within the next twenty-four hours.

They all state that a deal is almost done and there are now few doubts remaining that Messi will wear the Paris Saint-Germain jersey this season.

The Argentina international legend is fresh from winning the Copa America.

If successfully concluded, he will join up with his former Barcelona teammate Neymar, as well as Italy stars Marco Verratti and Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Sources say the salary is upwards of €30m per season, plus bonuses.
