Minister of Interior orders probe into Okere correctional centre allegations

Warri, Delta State – February 4, 2025 — The Minister of Interior, Hon. (Dr.) Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has ordered an immediate investigation into alleged criminal activities at Okere Correctional Centre.

This decision follows media reports exposing potential misconduct and indiscipline within the Warri-based facility.

The Minister strongly condemned the alleged behaviors, labeling them as “reprehensible.” He vowed to enforce strict consequences for any officer found guilty of misconduct. “I will not allow indiscipline to fester under my nose,” Tunji-Ojo declared during a press briefing.
