Agriculture Ministry declares 3-day fasting & prayer for food security

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security has introduced a three-day fasting and prayer initiative to seek divine intervention for Nigeria’s agricultural sector. Specifically, this program aims to strengthen food security and support the government’s agricultural policies. Additionally, it reflects the ministry’s commitment to exploring all avenues for national development.
An internal circular dated June 11, signed by Adedayo Modupe, the ministry’s Director of Human Resource Management, confirmed this initiative. Notably, the circular highlighted the role of spiritual guidance in achieving food security objectives. Furthermore, it mandated all staff members to participate in the fasting and prayer sessions.
The program, themed “Divine Intervention for Protection and National Development,” will occur at Conference Hall ‘B’ in the FMAFS headquarters in Abuja. Importantly, sessions are scheduled for June 16, June 23, and June 30, each running from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. Moreover, staff are expected to arrive fasting on these days to demonstrate their dedication.
According to the circular, the ministry seeks God’s guidance to ensure success in its food security efforts. Consequently, this spiritual approach complements practical strategies to tackle agricultural challenges. Similarly, it fosters unity and collective responsibility among staff toward national goals.
While the ministry has not disclosed further details, this move underscores its holistic approach to problem-solving. Ultimately, it recognizes the importance of combining practical and spiritual methods to address critical issues like food security. Therefore, this initiative represents a unique step toward sustainable agricultural development in Nigeria.
