(DDM) – Labour Party governorship candidate, Chief Dr. George Moghalu, has urged members of the Ugwuolo Sports Club in Onitsha to rally behind his mission to rescue Anambra State.

GNM Media Center told Diaspora Digital Media (DDM) that the meeting, chaired by the club’s Chairman, Mr. Christian Okoye today in Onitsha phase, highlighted Moghalu’s concerns over “crippling taxation” and “worsening insecurity” in the state.

Moghalu condemned the multiple levies imposed on traders, describing the infamous “Aka odo” system as a brutal form of harassment that has destroyed livelihoods.

He said traders are overtaxed, markets are collapsing, and insecurity is forcing investors to flee.

According to him, citizens are suffocating under policies that offer no relief or growth opportunities.

The Labour Party candidate warned that Anambra is collapsing before everyone’s eyes, insisting that the November 8 governorship election is the last chance to save it.

On insecurity, Moghalu lamented that families live in fear, while businesses remain shut every Monday due to the sit-at-home order.

He argued that such insecurity and harassment cannot be called governance, but outright failure.

Promising a fresh start, he assured voters that he would not fail them if given the mandate.

He pledged to restore peace, dignity, and security across the state, while rebuilding the economy from the ground up.

Moghalu reminded the audience of his record as Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).

He recalled that within six months he concessioned the Onitsha River Port, an achievement still remembered nationwide.

He further noted that Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has written his name in history for reforms that rekindled hope, promising that the same vision would drive his government in Anambra.

Moghalu concluded by calling on Ndi Anambra at home and abroad to unite behind a movement that promises peace, justice, and prosperity.
